ABOUT US
The Dani Harmer Academy is for children and young adults who want to develop their skills, or those who are just shy and looking to gain in confidence.
The Academy offers a safe, friendly and fun environment to learn and explore the performing arts, from drama classes and singing lessons to dance workshops and much more.
All staff have current DBS checks and safeguarding training.
Keep reading to find out more about what the Academy has to offer and give you a flavour of what you can expect:
CLASSES FOR 5 YEARS +
The Academy will run during term time with workshops during the school holidays.
Each week students will participate in singing, dance and drama classes, an hour in each class and two fifteen minute breaks.
The classes will be divided into 3 age groups consisting of:
5yrs to 8yrs
9yrs to 11yrs
12 plus
SINGING LESSONS:
Our singing classes will offer a mixture of songs, including Musical Theatre numbers, as well as vocal exercises with the aim of encouraging confidence. As well as group singing students have the opportunity to sing solo if they wish; we encourage this but it is not a requirement. There is also an opportunity to take LAMDA examinations in Musical Theatre. Dani Harmer Academy is a LAMDA Private Centre enabling exams to be taken on-site
DANCE LESSONS:
Our dance classes will be a mixture of modern, jazz and street dance. Not only a great way to exercise but also to nurture strength and co-ordination. There will be a combination of group numbers and solo numbers.
DRAMA LESSONS:
Our drama classes will encourage imagination, creativity and to work as part of a team. Improvisation, script reading and role play will be encouraged. There is also an opportunity to take LAMDA examinations in Drama. Dani Harmer Academy is a LAMDA Private Centre enabling exams to be taken on-site.
LAMDA:
Choose from a wide range of LAMDA exams aimed at building skills and knowledge in several areas of performing arts, musical theatre, and communication. With introductory, performance, and communication categories, there's bound to be an exam that appeals to you. Our team will help guide you through the exam and support you in researching and developing your skills.
MUSICAL THEATRE:
Using a blend of acting and vocal skills, our teachers will help you gain confidence and accelerate your skill level to be able to portray emotive lyrics and melody, through projection and body language.
MEET THE TEAM
Thank you Dani and team. You have given my boys the most wonderful opportunity to learn in a fun but serious and disciplined manner. They are able to perform at an extremely high level whilst also building their confidence.
My daughter Lindsey has grown with confidence since joining the Dani Harmer Academy, no longer a shy girl!
The team are fantastic and just know how much to push them to help them succeed. Within a couple of months the coaches saw great talent in her across Singing, Dancing and Acting, calling her an all-rounder which is great thing as a parent to hear, knowing that she is doing well. You get plenty of updates on how your child is progressing and seeing their faces at the end of Saturday you know they are enjoying it too.
Over the last couple of years Lindsey has improved so much, even winning an award or two! Seeing her on stage and performing with all the students is a highlight, they all do so well, and I know all parents and staff are proud of each of them. With them now offering LAMDA, we jumped on this as Singing is one her passions, we are thrilled to say, she has passed Grade 2 & 3 with distinctions, all down to the support that the coaches here have given her.
One thing to mention is by the end of your first day you will feel like part of the family!
And one last thing to add, which I think is important to say is you do get to learn from Dani too! She is there most weeks and shares her experiences and guide them to show their best potential and not forgetting she is always up for a selfie!
